Smiling faces… when the new wines from Humus arr

Smiling faces… when the new wines from Humus arrive in the Netherlands! When you’ve been following Zuiver, you know we’ve been working with Humus Wines for quite some time and that we love everything about this collaboration.

The wines are Atlantic breeze fresh, light in alcohol and friendly priced. They come from healthy organic vines, farmed in a cool microclimate, located one hour from Lisbon. The farm that Rodrigo Filipe took over from his father in 1999 feels quite remote, and every time we visit his beautiful 9ha of land, we feel a certain energy of lushness that is hard to describe.

Drinking his (non) Pet Nat Rose brings us straight back to those warm beach days in Portugal, seeing Rodrigo catching some waves after a hard days work in the vines.

Tasting lots of high energy wines from our Central and Eastern Europe producers at @wearekarakterre last weekend in Austria!

The region experienced heavy rainfall for the past weeks which caused stress for the soil and the growing grapes. However, during the past weekend the sun started to shine bright again and if the weather will continue to be like this, 2023 might become one of the best harvests so far. So let’s hope and stay positive just like these beautiful souls from Steiermark and beyond!

That time of the year! We received the first shipment of Matassa’s 2022s, which are available from now onwards!

To celebrate this festive occasion, we are also releasing a limited set of light-reds from the 2021-vintage, which we stored away for a year.

Pure, undiluted Roussillon pleasure, full of texture, minerality and aromatics!

Please note: All orders will be processed from Monday the 22nd onwards, and we’ll ship them in the days following. If you’re picking up your order, you’ll receive a notification when it’s ready for pick-up.

Since the new high-energy négoce wines by Justine

Since the new high-energy négoce wines by Justine Loiseau & Patrick Bouju are on their way, we decided to release a limited amount of 3-packs with wines from their own vineyards.

The wines from their own, old vines, mainly grown over basaltic soil are wines brimming with volcanic tension and are concentrated, but always immensely drinkable. However, aging these wines will turn them into real showstoppers.

Available online now, 1x 2020 and 2x 2021, limited to one pack per person!

Biodynamic Newsflash: Masterclass + dinner incoming!

We’re pleased to announce that next to the wonderful macerated Slovenian Steiermark wines by Radovan Šuman, we also started working with likeminded orange-wine sage Božidar Zorjan! Their endearing wines are available in limited quantities as of this month. Both Šuman and Zorjan produce macerated wines just south of the border with Austrian Steiermark, and their wines, both in energy, minerality, structure and aroma, bear resemblance to their neighbors Muster, Werlitsch and Strohmeier. However, there’s also lots of interesting differences…

Both winemakers have a deep understanding of biodynamics, and their vineyards (and respective chicken-, sheep-, and bee-populations) have been tended biodyanamically+++ for over two decades. As a result, the quality and energy of their unsulfited wines are unparalleled, but it is hard to translate them to text. Therefore, we decided to host a masterclass focusing on both wineries and their spectrum of orange wines for our professional clients on Monday the 17th of April, to give some background and context to these oenological monuments.

The masterclass will be held together with orange wine-guru and all-round biodynamic aficionado @marcel.de.cocq at Restaurant Choux on the 17th, between 13:00-15:00. Sign-up through info@zuiverwijnen.nl if you are keen to join. Spots are very limited.

Futhermore, since we also like to pour these wines to all wine lovers, we’re organizing a dinner where we’ll pour and subtitle the wonderful wines by the glass at @cafebinnenvisser. Please reserve through info@binnenvisser.nl between 18-18:30 for 1-4 persons, or just come by and walk in!

The last 3 years have been an incredible rollercoaster for our company. The pandemic forced us to change our business quickly. This gave us one beautiful gift; Olivier quit his job as sommelier @chouxrestaurant and joined our team full-time. He took Zuiver to a new level with his great energy, huge knowledge and above all extreme talent. Without him we definitely wouldn’t be where we are now!

Last week Olivier officially joined us as a partner in our wonderful company, and we’re absolutely proud of that. It’s a big pleasure to have you in the team and we’re curious where the future will bring us. Keep on doing what you’re doing, and please, everyone who loves Ollie as much as we do: show him some love!
