About the winemaker
Filippe Rizzo was among the first to pour natural wine outside Paris, introducing the movement to his intimate restaurant in Belgium. He grew up in the rural southeast of Sicily, just north of Ragusa, before later becoming both a wine importer and restaurateur in Belgium. In 2000, Filippe chose to return to his roots, taking over a small family farm and moving back to the island with his Flemish wife, Nancy, to found Azienda Agricola Lamoresca. The name pays tribute to the ancient Moresca olive tree. Together, Filippe and Nancy farm 4 hectares of vineyards and care for 1,000 olive trees, with deep respect for the land and a steadfast commitment to sustainable viticulture. Their project stands as a testament to artisan winemaking and to European natural wine producers who bridge heritage and forward-thinking.

About the vineyard
The estate sits in the southernmost corner of the province of Catania, along Sicily’s southern coastline, at an elevation of 430 meters above sea level. This location experiences striking diurnal temperature swings an absolute blessing in this sun-drenched, characteristically Mediterranean climate. The soils here are a complex tapestry of deeply compressed sandstone, interwoven with calcium and iron-rich clay, creating a unique foundation for organic vineyards that thrive under challenging conditions.

About the wines
Filippe’s wines are unmistakably Sicilian in character. Sun-drenched yet vibrant, his bottlings capture both the warmth and energy of the island, expressing ripeness and freshness in equal measure proof that low-intervention producers can channel place and vitality without compromise.
