About the winemaker
In the far southeast of Piedmont, in Costa Vescovato, lies the land of Valli Unite. Thirty years ago, four families decided to join forces, working together as a kind of commune and establishing a wine cooperative. What began as a partnership has since flourished into a community of about 100 hectares, tended by roughly 30 members, all connected by family ties. Valli Unite is more than just a vineyard: the land encompasses orchards, vegetable gardens, fields of grains, and livestock. Each member of the cooperative has their own role, and the farm is almost entirely self-sufficient. When these families chose to take a stand against the industrialization of agriculture and farm according to their own vision, natural farming took priority and it remains at the core of Valli Unite’s philosophy today.

Balance with nature and a deep respect for the land inform every decision here, a principle that is reflected in the co-op’s wines. Today, Alessandro Poretti leads the winemaking team. Alessandro learned the subtle craft of natural wine and biodynamic winemaking from the legendary polyculture farmer and natural wine pioneer Stefano Bellotti, whose influence continues to shape each bottle from this artisan producer.

About the wines
Wines from Valli Unite make it clear that they come from a different part of Piedmont not the stately western regions around Alba or Asti, but from a place shaped by farmers deeply committed to the rhythms of nature. These are lively, untamed wines with soul and energy, a testament to the low-intervention, sustainable viticulture practiced here. Thanks to the co-op’s egalitarian structure where everyone earns about the same hourly wage even the most remarkable wines remain surprisingly accessible. This is genuine, small-scale winemaking rooted in community, integrity, and respect for nature.
